Arielle Angel is a visual artist and writer currently based out of Brooklyn, New York.
NEWSMay 7, 2010 - I participated in
Single Fare, a show of artworks on used MetroCards. It actually riffed perfectly off a
project I did in 2005, sharing my happy thoughts on the backs of MetroCards. So I sent them a card of one of my happy thoughts: The letter "Z" in line with a Triple Word Score on a Scrabble board. Check out pictures from the show at the site, linked above. It's up until May 12th at 224 Grand Street in Williamsburg.
April 13, 2010 - I am attending Columbia University in the fall, to receive my MFA in fiction writing!
March 24, 2010 - Thanks to a grant from Birthright Israel, I am illustrating and printing a full color homemade Haggadah for use at my seder on March 30th. You can see my illustrations of the 14 steps of the seder (as well as a brief explanation)
here. If you would like a PDF copy of my Haggadah, which tells the story of Passover in an inclusive way, focusing on themes of activism, resistance, and vanquishing oppression, just contact me and ask!
March 1, 2010 - Look for a new piece by Arielle Angel called "If We Are the Mouse" in the
Spring 2010 Issue of Flashquake, an online literary magazine dedicated to flash fiction. Drop me a note and tell me what you thought of it!
February 19, 2010 - As of March 2nd, 2010, Arielle Angel will be Brooklyn-based. Hooray!
February 11, 2010 - The
Endangered World Project will be up at Convoy Point, Biscayne National Park from February 18th - May 1st. There will be a special meet and greet reception February 28th, 2010 from 6 pm - 8 pm. There will be an indoor exhibit in the Dante Fascell Visitor's Center, with works on paper by Xavier Cortada, and an outdoor exhibit with 360 flags of endangered species from around the world, created by participants from all over South Florida. For more information on the exhibit, click
here.
January 18, 2010 - There is still time to participate in the Endangered World Project, a partnership between local artist Xavier Cortada and Biscayne National Park, managed by Arielle Angel. This participatory public art project is the marriage of art and environmental activism, so if you're based in South Florida and these are interests of yours, sign up to participate at
Endangered World. This is a great opportunity to get your artwork out there
and do something for the earth, as the artwork in this project will travel to other national parks after it finishes its four-month run at Biscayne National Park.
Nov 23, 2009 - Wanna say it in a song, but don't have any musical skills? Now there's
Write Me A Song Robby for all your songwriting needs. The last commission was for a couple in Information Technology. It's a duet, and Arielle Angel's first foray into recording. It's called "The Bits." Check it out in the "My Songs" section of the website.
Nov 20, 2009 - Arielle Angel has donated three reverse glass paintings to the
Claire Kantor Foundation, which gives academic scholarships to promising art students. The auction is December 6th, 2009. To see the online catalogue, click

Nov 18, 2009 - Partly inspired by a trip to the
Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry, Arielle Angel has signed up for
The Art House Co-op's "Fiction Project." If you haven't heard of them, check them out. Their projects are a great way to get moving on different ideas.
